The recent release of the first trailer for A Quiet Place finally sheds some light on the storyline of the new supernatural thriller. Krasinski and Blunt play a husband and wife couple whose family is being hunted by a sinister creature.
Their children are played by actors Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds. In addition to being deaf in real life, Simmonds also plays a deaf character in the film. Throughout the trailer, the family is seen living on a remote farm and going about their daily tasks, but with one small hitch: Everything they do is done in complete silence.
When a lamp is accidentally knocked over and shatters from the impact, you suddenly realize that the family’s silence is their protection as they live in fear of the unknown. The film’s tagline reads, “Listen closely, move carefully, and never make a sound. If they can’t hear you, they can’t hunt you.”
The film is directed by Krasinski and the original script, which was written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, was rewritten by Krasinski. A Quiet Place opens in theaters on April 6, 2018.
