Before the days of DVD and Blu-ray, the only way to binge watch all your favorite Disney flicks in your living room was with VHS tapes. You had to remove the large, cumbersome plastic box from the even larger plastic case, insert it into your television-sized tape player, and listen to the symphony of crackles and high-pitched whines as the screen suddenly came to life. Then, if you wanted to watch the movie again, you had to remove the tape and insert it into the rewinder.
Once they became outdated, though, you couldn’t give away VHS tapes for free. People smartly came to realize how much more efficient discs were. And alas, the olden days of VHS died out.
But, like everything that eventually goes from “old” to “vintage”, it would seem that even VHS tapes are not only returning, but are transcending in popularity with collectors. If you own any of these eight classic Disney tapes, what you once bought for a few dollars could now be worth thousands!
This delightful tale about a floppy-eared elephant and his magic feather sold for $2,800 on eBay!
Even though the Genie may not be real, recovering a Black Diamond copy of this classic film may just turn you into a prince, as the tape has sold for a massive $10,000!
You don’t need a fairy godmother to turn this worthless relic of ancient technology into a pile of money. This past June, a Black Diamond VHS copy sold for over $5,000 on eBay.
The Jungle Book
Getting by on the bare necessities? You may not have to if you can sell this for $1,000.
Beauty and the Beast
A copy of this tale as old as time sold back in June for a whopping $17,000! With that kind of money, you wouldn’t need to fall in love with a prince – ugly or not!
