Disney takes a leap as they continue to tackle life issues and focus on inclusion. In the one hour season two premiere of Andi Mack, the episode’s theme will revolve around the coming out journey of a main character.

Friday’s coming out narrative centered on Cyrus Goodman, played by Joshua Rush, figuring out how to cope with his feelings for his guy friend, which will be a Disney Channel first. Disney Channel is reassuring all that the material will not only be appropriate but also send a message.
In a statement, Walt Disney Co. said, “Our stories are timeless because they speak to the heart; our characters appeal to children across gender, ability, and experience because they’re defined by kindness, loyalty, humor, courage, wit and other traits that make a good friend. Disney remains committed to continuing to create characters that are accessible and relatable to all children.”
The new season will premiere on the Disney Channel at 8 p.m. eastern standard time.
